I hope you will join me in congratulating Prof Wendy Hall of Southampton University and the Web Science Research Initiative, for being made a dame in the New Year Honours. Wendy is one of the IT profession’s leading ladies and indeed deserves the recognition. For many years she has worked hard to push the boundaries of computer science and increase the profile of women in science. In more recent times she has helped to widen the Web through her continued support of Web science.
Wendy is a valued friend and colleague. What a great start to 2009.
